Scotland's first missing persons framework
Police Scotland, local authorities and the third sector have joined forces to deal consistently and appropriately with incidents of people going missing. This is part of a new Scottish Government national strategy looking at preventing people from going missing and limiting the harm associated with it.
Around two thirds of the 30,000 people reported missing to Police Scotland are children and young people. This is particularly concerning given how vulnerable to harm and exploitation that this group are.
The National Missing Persons Framework for Scotland was launched at a conference on 'Returned missing people' co-organised by University of Glasgow on 10 May 2017.
