New information guides to help children, young people and families understand child protection processes

New guides to help children, young people and parents and carers in Scotland to learn about child protection have been published by the Scottish Government today (20 February).

The guides are available online as written, audio and downloadable versions on a new website ‘Keeping children safe in Scotland’, to provide age-appropriate information for anyone who may become involved in child protection processes in Scotland.

The Scottish Government committed to producing national information resources when the National Child Protection Guidance in Scotland 2021 – updated 2023 was published, and, in line with the emphasis in the guidance, the guides were developed in consultation with children, young people and families in Scotland with experience of care and protection, and with practitioners from police, social work, health, education services and the third sector who helped to oversee and shape the content.
