Encourage young voters to register
The rules on the voting age in Scotland have now changed meaning that, for the first time 16 and 17 year olds will be eligible to take part in elections to the Scottish Parliament and at local elections in Scotland.
If you registered to vote at the referendum you will need to register again, as the referendum was a one-off event that used a separate register for 16 and 17 year olds.
You need to be on the electoral register to vote.
Registering takes around 5 minutes. You’ll need your National Insurance number (if you have one).
