Admissions Guidance for Residential Services
The Care Inspectorate has published Matching Looked After Children and Young People: Admissions Guidance for Residential Services.
This guidance sets out what the Care Inspectorate expects from services when planning for and assessing the needs of children and young people prior to a placement. It looks at the needs of individual children and young people, and how these will be met through the placement.
It also supports commissioners, planners, purchasers, and providers when offering appropriate placements for children and young people moving into a new residential setting, and in developing admissions policies and procedures to support the children and young people.
The guidance covers
- Legislation and guidance
- Making positive decisions for and with children and young people
- Considering a new referral – what information should be provided/requested
- Considering a new referral – what service providers should think about
- Emergency Placements
