The winners
We had a special award ceremony at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow for the Residential Child Care Awards 2019. As always, the standard of entry was extremely high and below you can find out more about the awards, and who the lucky winners were for this year.
Many, many congratulations to all the winners and runners up. You are super stars!
Graham Bell Lifetime Achievement Award
The Graham Bell Lifetime Achievement Award is in recognition of the commitment to young people shown by Graham thoughout his working life, and marks his retirement as as the Chief Executive of Kibble Education and Care Centre in 2017. Graham has a long history of working with SIRCC and CELCIS, supporting and contributing to SIRCC conferences for many years.
This award recognises individuals who have made a significant contribution to the residential child care sector in Scotland over a sustained period of time and this year we were delighted to present this award to Lynda Taylor.
Lynda is a qualified Social Worker who chose to devote her career to working in residential child care, driving up the profile of residential care and relating this to theoretical perspectives. She has worked in a variety of local authority roles over the oast 25 years, 15 of which have been in leadership roles in the local authority areas of Edinburgh and Renfrewshire. Lynda is supportive of her staff whilst always challenging poor practice and judgemental attitudes, encouraging discourse and driving forward an agenda of improvement. Her knowledge base is rooted in the theory of residential child care and she was a champion of trauma informed care and social pedagogy years before it became widely known and embraced.
Congratulations to Lynda Taylor
