At our February meeting of the Education Forum, we’ll be welcoming Gavin Morgan, Co-CEO, and Diana Whitmore, Founder and Co-CEO, of Growing2gether, a Scottish charity supporting young people struggling with mental health, poverty, and challenging childhood experiences.
Through innovative and youth-led programmes, evidenced by robust evaluation, Growing2gether aims to increase positive mental health, educational attainment and develop life skills for the children and young people they work with and support.
During the Forum event, attendees will hear about Growing2gether’s two main areas of work:
The Nursery Mentoring Programme pairs young people in high school with children in nursery or early primary settings, allowing both to form a strong relationship while building confidence, mental wellbeing and life skills. The Youth Action Programme builds on this, supporting young people in working within their local communities to co-design community projects and partner with local mentors.
Attendees will hear about the charity’s journey to date, the programme models and impact, young people’s experiences working through the programmes, and how they might work in their own educational settings and benefit the young people they work with.
As always, there will be the time for questions and discussion, and attendees will also be provided with event-related resources and the opportunity to follow up with any relevant areas of the presentation.
Who should attend?
The Forum meeting is open to everyone who works with children and young people in an educational setting.
