The Job Grant is designed to provide assistance to young people to meet the initial costs of starting work.

We support its introduction, and welcome proposals to ensure increased eligibility for care leavers in recognition of the additional barriers they may face in accessing employment. We suggests changes to eligibility criteria to ensure all care leavers can access the grant, and the provision of guidance to ensure the grant enhances (rather than replaces) financial support already available.
