Edinburgh Care Leavers: The Future

Edinburgh care leavers describe how they see their future and how they feel about it.

For many young people, leaving home is a time of excitement, adventure and new beginnings, with the knowledge that family is there to help if they need it and knowing they can return there for weekends or even move back in if they need to.

This is not the case for most care leavers. Once care leavers have left their care home, residential school or foster carers, it is unlikely they can return, therefore a lot of them are preparing to move out at the age of 16.
