We respond to Scottish Government’s extensive consultation on the review of a central piece of legislation pertaining to children and their families in Scotland. Our response is informed by a range of evidence, including the views of those who participated in our consultation workshop events.
We argue for improvements in when and how children’s views are taken into account by those making decisions, consider legislative changes to improve siblings experiences (particularly those separated through state intervention), and consider how children and young people can be better supported and enabled to maintain and develop relationships with people who are important to them.
