CELCIS Response to the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee’s Inquiry into the Health and Wellbeing of Children and Young People

This response to the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee’s Inquiry provides information about some of the key issues around the health and wellbeing of children and young people in need of care and protection. This includes the impact of trauma and disrupted attachments on mental health and wellbeing, the importance of relationships, permanence, and support when leaving care. The response outlines some of the key challenges and opportunities to improving the health and wellbeing of these children and young people over the next 5 years, which includes the implementation of the UNCRC, the Girfec model and the Promise. We also outline the importance of addressing poverty to promote the health and wellbeing of these children and young people.
